West of England Waste Management and Planning Strategy Member Project Board, 17th June 2008
Draft Minute Extract
8 JOINT WASTE CORE STRATEGY: PREFERRED OPTIONS DOCUMENT AND CONSULTATION PLAN (Agenda Item 8)
David Turner reminded the Member Project Board that the four constituent Authorities were preparing a Joint Waste Core Strategy for the West of England. The Preferred Options Pre-Consultation Draft built on the Issues and Options consultation that took place in 2007 and developed a planning strategy for inclusion in the formal submission of the Joint Waste Core Strategy to the Secretary of State.
The Preferred Options Pre-Consultation Draft proposed a spatial planning option for the distribution of the waste management facilities that would be required over the plan period and identified the potential sites for strategic waste management facilities. The proposals for sites suitable for Waste Recovery facilities were being informed by a study of sites considered suitable having regard to criteria determined at the Issues and Options stage. These represented draft proposals resulting from work in progress.
It was proposed that the views of the Joint Overview and Scrutiny Reference Group and the respective Unitary Authority Scrutiny Committees/Panels be sought prior to reporting back to the next meeting of the Member Project Board on 16th September 2008.
Resolved: that this Member Project Board agrees to undertake pre-consultation on Preferred Options Pre-Consultation Draft Document and Consultation Plan with the Joint Overview and Scrutiny Reference Group and the respective Unitary Authority Scrutiny Committees/Panels, and for this matter to come back to the Member Project Board for further consideration at the next meeting on 16th September 2008.
