Part 1 – Recommendations to the Planning and Regulatory Committee
Planning Application No. 12/P/2068/F Creation of new car parking to provide 173 spaces related to the existing GE operation with associated bunding and landscaping at GE Oil and Gas, High Street, Nailsea (Agenda Item 5.1)
The Director of Development and Environment reported on an application for planning permission.
The representative of the Director of Development and Environment drew Members’ attention to the update sheet a copy of which is filed on the Minute Book, and in particular to the need for additional conditions.
Vice-Chairman of the Planning & Regulatory Committee Councillor Bob Cook exercised his right under the Constitution to refer the application unconditionally to the Planning & Regulatory Committee for determination.
Expressing concern about the apparent breakdown of the existing arrangements Members invited the officers to use their best offices to try to broker dialogue between the parties and in the event that this proved unsuccessful, to demonstrate to the Planning & Regulatory Committee that all avenues had been thoroughly exhausted regarding securing an alternative solution.
Members also expressed concern about the surfacing treatments proposed, given the temporary nature of the permission.
Recommended to the Planning & Regulatory Committee: that the application be approved subject to the conditions set out in the report and the additional conditions set out in the update sheet.
